In this article I will be going through some rules and regulations, possession limits and boat limits.
Barramundi
The opening of the Barramundi season in Queensland waters is the 1st of February inclusive, minimum legal-size limit is 58cm and maximum is 120cm. They have a possession limit of 5 per person, and a boat limit of 10 per boat with two or more people on board.
These rules apply in dams and exempt waterways as well, the only difference is 1 fish over 120cm per person at all times can be taken. In closed season, a bag limit of 1 per person and 2 per boat limit with two or more people on board. All anglers fishing any stocked impoundment dams must require a permit (SIP )which can be purchased online.
Black Jew Fish
Open season for Black Jewfish is the 1st of January inclusive. The season will close once the (TACC) Total Allowable Commercial Catch is taken. To find this information go to fisheries.qld.gov.au. East coast minimum size limit is 75cm and a possession limit of 1 per person and 2 per boat with 2 or more people on board (fish must be kept whole).
Same rules apply in the Gulf of Carpentaria, except the minimum size limit is 60cm.
Spanish Mackerel
Spanish Mackerel have a minimum size limit of 75cm, with a possession limit of 3 per person and 6 per boat with 2 or more people on board. These possession limits will change as of the 1st of July, 2023, ongoing to 1 per person and 2 per boat with 2 or more people onboard. Snapper
Snapper has a minimum size limit of 35cm, they have a possession limit of 4 per person with no more than 1 over 70cm and 8 per boat with no more than 2 over 70cm with 2 or more people on board. They have a closed season which starts the 15th of July to the 15th of August 2023.
Mud Crab
Mud crab have a size limit of 15cm. This is measured across the widest part of the crab, they have a possession limit of 7 per person and 14 per boat with 2 or more people on board. You can not have in your possession a crab with missing shell or claws with out the rest of the crab.
Blue Swimmer crab have a size limit of 11.5cm measured across the widest part of the crab from notch to notch. They have a possession limit of 20 per person, and canβt posses with the shell or claws missing without the rest of the crab.
Prawns
There is no size limit on prawns, they have a possession limit of 10 litres per person and 20 litres per boat with 2 or more people on board (you can not have prawns with heads or any other part removed in your possession)
